Artificial Sweetener (XYLITOL)

Unfortunately, some brands of dog food continue to use Xylitol, albeit in reduced amounts. If your dog eats dog food or treats that contain this chemical on a frequent basis, they may become hypoglycemic, which can lead to liver illness and blood clotting problems. Your veterinarian should be consulted if you have any concerns about a product that contains this component.

Food dyes or corn syrup

Artificial food dyes are most likely used in dog food with intense colours to make it more enticing to us humans, as a means to entice us to purchase the product. Blue 2, Red 40, Yellow 5 and 6, 4-MIE are all food colours that should be avoided at all costs. These goods may contain corn syrup, which has a high glycemic index but no nutritional benefit, in addition to artificial food colours. Corn syrup adds sweetness to dog food. Ethoxyquin

Due to its hazardous consequences, ethoxyquin was last allowed on the market in June 2020. However, this preservative may be included in some items. It's a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for this component.

This artificial preservative was used to increase the shelf life of some traditional dog feeds and treats. Studies have shown that Ethoxyquin was found to raise liver enzymes and increase the pigmentation of haemoglobin in the liver.

Grains

Grains are a carbohydrate-rich foodstuff. They can provide your dog with energy, but they are also one of the most prevalent allergens in dogs. Carbohydrate digestion is tough for all dogs, but it is extremely difficult for those who already have digestive problems. It might give your pet stomach pains, constipation, and other unpleasant symptoms. Grains are also a low-grade filler. As a result, grain-free diets are beneficial to any dog.

Dairy

Milk isn't necessarily harmful to dogs; however some dogs (like people) are lactose intolerant. This means that dairy products cannot be digested by their bodies. As a result, it's preferable to keep it out of their food. Lactose intolerance can cause stomach aches, vomiting, and diarrhoea, which is why we don't use dairy in our products!
